Silver Suitcase in The NEW YORK TIMES!

Well, lookey here!  Me and The Silver Suitcase made it to the big time!

WOOT WOOT!
Nancy Baron, photographer + Documentarian extraordinaire featured us in her new book titled: "Palm Springs: The Good Life"

If that wasn't enough love, this past weekend she penned a piece for the New York Times about her beloved part time residence and her new book.

Lo and behold this was one of the photos featured:

I love that this was simply titled:

Meet the Newest Member of the Silver Suitcase® Family!

Yes siree, here is Silver Suitcase® #5!!!

This, my friends is a 1960 Airstream Tradewind

All 24ft! Gorgeous, right?

***Really, it had me at Jalousie Windows!

If you look really hard you might be able to make out the blueprint:

*** Jalousie windows are the slatted windows like this:

The trailer companies did away with them in the 70's, having switched to sliders.

Can't wait to get started on the latest and greatest!

Lookey, Me and the Silver Suitcase® are in a Magazine!

Fast Company magazine profiled Nancy Baron's book The Good Life  which includes a photo of me in the Silver Suitcase --- Fast Company used that photo  as the intro to the piece with this headline:

PHOTO ESSAY OF LIFE IN PALM SPRINGS MAKES ME WANT TO RETIRE IMMEDIATELY

Fast Company wrote:

Photographer Nancy Baron's  The Good Life takes us behind the classic veneer of the city's resort glamour.

Doesn't Get Any Better: Coachella 2015 + Trailer Park!!!

Yup, it happened! Tickets went on sale for Coachella a little over a week ago. the mad frenzy has already begun, and needless to say weekend one was sold out in a matter of minutes!
But we got our tickets, and people, I cannot stress this enough:  if you haven't been, figure out something and find a way to go next year. You will not be disappointed.

Before the Polo Fields, before Coachella, there was of course, a Trailer Park!

I stumbled upon this:
Now, that's a Trailer Park!
Pretty nifty, right?

IMPOSTER ALERT: The Trailer Formerly Known as Park Model 60

When I bought Silver Suitcase® # 4,
the title said 1960 Park Model

I thought something was off with the "1960" interior design of the trailer
but believed the registration.
Why wouldn't I?

Lo and behold, I found this while working on the trailer yesterday:
I did some research and boom, it was confirmed:

This Trailer is a....

1955 ROADCRAFT!!!

I think somewhere along the way the original title was lost, and for whatever reason this trailer got slapped with the 1960 Park Model on the replacement title.

This is a pleasant surprise as these are rare!

Here's an ad for a 1957 Roadcraft

And the website Atlas Mobile Home Directory which has listings for all vintage trailers had this to say about Roadcraft:

"Roadcraft was an obscure mobile home manufacturer and didn't stay in business very long. The units they produced were nevertheless impressive. The Roadcraft Imperial was available in 50', 55', 60', and 65' lengths.
The cheaper series, United, was available in 35' to 55' in both ten and eight foot widths.
A 55' long eight wide would have been a monster to try to pull down the road!"

So, the Trailer formerly known as Park Model 60 is now known
as a 1955 Roadcraft from the United collection!

Woot! Woot!

Renovation: It's All In the Attitude.

As I wrote the other day,  I purchased a 1949 Spartan Mansion (Silver Suitcase™ #3!)   Here's a sneak peak of a "before" picture. Note: my cavalier attitude.

Think I have some work to do?

Hooray for Hollywood + Coachella! WOOT! WOOT!

There's been A LOT of press on Palm Springs lately, mainly focusing on the "Who's Who" of Hollywood, and who are buying and playing here.

As I've said before, Hollywood and the Power Players have been coming to Palm Springs since the 1920's, and I don't see them stopping any time soon.

The daily industry insider, The Hollywood Reporter devoted a section on Palm Springs in their weekly magazine edition. I wrote about and linked to their articles on my other blog - you can read here. The Hollywood Reporter really covered a lot and did it well, which is terrific to see.

I welcome Hollywood with open arms, and just the other day, I sent a Welcome Wagon Open Letter to one of our newest residents. Do take a look if you are visiting Palm Springs, it's a nice little guide to dining and drinking in Palm Springs old school style.

Now, onto more pressing matters:

My Coachella Action Adventure Set came in and it only has a wristband and a paper snail with directions to glue glitter to it?

Anyone remember the snail from last year???

Oh, yes. The Snail.

And, yes that is me in my Coachella approved outfit.

I can't wait for Coachella this year - I think it's going to possibly top last year, which is no easy feat!

Some Highlights from the Vintage Trailer Show at Modernism Week in Palm Springs

One of the consistent features in all of the trailers were the bursts of color - and there is nothing like the desert sun to really bring out the best in all of them!

Look! Happy Trailers!

Glam Trailers!

Loved this one - the old school classic:

More tomorrow, we're still getting things together for the Silver Suitcase™ to turn back into my  home.

What an incredible, fun weekend, and meeting everyone was definitely the icing on the cake!
